I am with some friends who could care less about baseball so I get the scoop and then turn off my radio for now. About a half hour later I listen in again and there is Sterling still working, this time doing some overtime, still no score.
Some more time goes by as now intrigued, I listen in again, by now the game is in the 12th and still neither team has been able to score, but this time the Yanks are threatening and Sterling is calling the play as the Yanks are about to win, I don't recall who was at the plate for the Yankees at the time but someone just hit a shot that sounded like the game winner, Sterling was being Sterling on the call so you can just imagine, I thought they had just won the game, but no the ball was caught by JD Drew who on the radio made a spectacular catch to keep the game intact. It must have been like another hour before I went back to see if the game was finally over and to my surprise it still wasn't, but this time the game was ready for it's end, I just happened to catch A-ROD at the plate with a running on in the bottom of the 15th right in time for the call, by now we all know what happened next as Sterling likes to say, IT IS HIGH IT IS FAR IT IS GONE!!!
For the 2nd straight night the Yanks give it to the Red Sox and this time it was no rout, this time it was one of those pressure games where the team who loses will feel the pain and the team who wins could take off, what was even more amazing to me was how this all played out, two teams who the night before had hit a ton of homeruns went on for almost 15 inning without scoring a single run, all while playing in that dinky ballpark, only in baseball.
This was one of those Yankee classics games you will see in the future on the YES Network for sure. What was more impressive was the Yankee bullpen who I have called out throughout the season and before the series, well I guess for one game the Yanks proved to me that I should not worry about them and their bullpen. With 2 more games left in the series the Yanks now take a 4 and a half game lead on their rivals, and now look more and more in control of the division. For sure the Sox's have taken a bit of a hit, and so with the 2 games remaining in the series the Sox's must now find a way to save face in the next two games because if they don't they may be looking at their team possibly losing control of a situation that earlier in the season they had so much control of. Yankee fans are giddy and with plenty of reason, the Yankees have now beaten the one team they could not beat twice in a row and in the process have increased their lead in the division a season high 4 plus games. Red Sox fans in the other hand may be feeling a bit of concern, the team seems a bit off right now as they are going through some inconsistent play, now they have to find a way to weather the storm and try to get back on track before the Yanks start to pull away. Right now the balance has clearly shifted to where it is now the Yankees who look like the best team in baseball and not the Red Sox. Being a Met fan I hate to admit it, but I have to call it like I see it, all year I have been saying that the Sox's are the best team in baseball, but things done changed.
To make matters worst, and not like it really matters, but I then had to watch K-ROD blow it in the 9th giving up a grand slam as he blows it for the 2nd time in a row! This was like the worst night for a Met fan, and of course the perfect night for those damm Yankees fan, but by now I'm all use to it so bring it on.

Another shut out for the Yanks today as C.C. comes up big. Like I've said all along to you, I have not been impressed with this Boston team. Glad to see that you're finally seeing it as well. As for the Mets, what can I say that hasn't been said already?
it's a long season, earlier on it was the Sox's who were the better team, but it seems that in the last 40 games or so the Yanks began to even out the balance and have now clearly surpased the Sox's. So now the Sox have began to fade a bit, and also have some injured players, also the the Big Papi steroid issues has been a negative. What Boston has to do is fend off the Ray's and get in the playoffs.
This was in SportsbyBrooks a few days ago:
As for the Sox, it can’t be good knowing that you’ve won eight of nine from your biggest rivals and you’re still 3 1/2 games out of first. The Yankees are 10 1/2 games better than the Sox in games in which they haven’t played each other. And with A-Rod back in the lineup, it’s hard to see the Sox winning eight of the next nine the teams play. In fact, the Yankees haven’t seemed so in control of the AL East since 2006.
My feelings exactly.
I saw that too, and sure it makes sense, but I just think that right now the Sox's have hit a bit of a funk, all teams, even good teams go through it, and right now they need to get out of it, now it don't mean they will, but good team usually do. They better start by winning today and avoid the sweep.
If I'm the Sox's I just concentrate on trying to get back to playing good consistence ball and make the playoffs
Wow, is all I have to say. The Yanks took care of business indeed Mortimer.
