It was another win for the New York Yankees last night in Boston but this time it was a beatdown as the Yankees shook the Sox's for 20 runs in route to their 5th straight win over their rivals. Brad Penny showed the fans in Boston that he cannot be counted on come playoff time if the Sox's are to get there, The former Dodger who once had stuff that turned eyes no longer seems to posses the same pitches anymore and was hit early an offend. In his 4 innings he gave up 8 runs on 10 hits as the Yankees had their way with the pudgy righty.
It was a hit parade for the Yanks would collected 23 hits led by A-ROD who went 4-4 and Melky Cabrerra had 4 hits in 6 at bats, others who had their way with Penny were Derek Jeter and Mark Texiera who both had 3 hits each, Hideki Matsui reach 20 homers for the season with a pair homers in the victory. There was not much pitching in this one as you could tell from all the runs scored by both teams but hey the Yankees will take it 20-11.
Luckily for the Sox's the Texas Rangers lost their game vs Tampa so the Sox's stay a full game on top of the WC race. For the Yankees they padded their lead to 7 and a half games on 2nd place Boston who more and more need to simply focus on grabbing the WC if they want to see playoff baseball this season. The only downer for the Yanks was Johnny Damon who took a foul ball to the knee and had to leave the game and will probably be out for the rest of the series. Both teams will mix it up again this afternoon with a matchup between AJ Burnett and rookie Junichi Tazawa.

Overall a nice win for the Yanks although I'm not in love with the fact that they gave up so many runs in the process but right now a win is a win and I'll take it. Yeah, lucky for the Sox that the Rangers lost but unlucky for the Sox is that the Rangers lost to Tampa Bay who is the team that Sox should really be worried about.
Yea a win is a win especially when your talking about beating Boston.
Definitely Tampa is a better team then Texas, Texas for years always fades down the stretch whenever they are in some kind of a race, I mean when was the last time Texas made it to the playoffs?
