Ray when I said I don't expect nothing from Ollie Perez this season it was because of how he came across last year at a similar post game interview, looking nervous & uncertain of him self, it was like a guy who did not believe in himself & did not want to be there.
This was John Maine last night, he too looked like he has no belief in himself. No more does he pops the catchers mitt with that 94mph raising fastball I use to see a couple of years ago, now it is constantly 88 89 with the fastball. After the game he was there with all the mics and he looked bad. What I saw from John Maine last night was a guy who is waiting for the pink slip so that he does not has to go out there & perform because the pressure to perform on him & get the job done is to much. The fanbase expects so much from Maine & the Mets but the pressure seems to be getting to him just like it has gotten to Ollie. The pressure that is to play for the Mets right now is not for the weak. John Maine right now is weak.
Like I said there is a lot of pressure to play for the Mets right now, & last night the Mets looked tense, John Maine didn't help out. Yea I know it's only game #7, but I think it is almost time to make this guy a bullpen guy & no longer wait for the John Maine who looked like a guy who's stuff looked like one day could be in Cy Young contention. That's how good Maine's stuff looked 2 years ago to me & he had the mental toughness to go with it, but when you lose your stuff so goes the mental part of it to. Ray I think it was you who I told a couple of years ago that I wouldn't be surprise if John Maine was contending for a CY Young one day, he was that good back then. But that was then & this is now. I haven't seen that John Maine for a while now & it is time to simply forget about him.
And in some brief Yankees news, it was business as usual in the BX as the pinstripers were home to open the home opener as they got ready to receive their bling. Yogi & Whitey were there to give them out, & it was #5 for the core 4, I guess Yogi Berra was there to remind them that they still have ways to go to catch him. It was also nice to see how the Yankees came out to hug it out with former Yankee Hideki Matsui when his ring was given to him, while the fans were pouring their affection for the guy who spent 7 seasons in the BX, Matsui was lost in a sea of Yankee pinstripes, I have to say that was cool. The Yankees took care of business by beating the Angels 7-5 as Andy Pettite looked vintage Andy. There was plenty of offense from the get go, a HR from Nick, and the captain didn't disappoint the home crowd either. It was a smooth day in the Bronx with only a minor glitch in the end but Mo came in to close the door.

I think its too early to panic but you might want to keep an eye on the situation. Thus far I like what Pelfrey is doing for the Mets.
Yea I understand it's too early to panic but when a pitcher use to throw 95 & now is at 89, & on top of that he never was a guy who really used the corners but instead relied on blowing it by hitters, that is a big problem.
That is why I have a bad feeling about both Perez & Maine, both use to throw hard and now they are just average & they both sound worry which adds to the panic.
Pelfrey is a horse, he's big, & he throws hard. Yup so far so good with Pelf.
