Stick a fork, the Nationals are done.

The NY Mets had made it a thing, come back wins is what they do and last night it was the biggest one yet. They broke the backs of the Washington Nationals and along the way they saved Matt Harvey's ass from his BAD performance.

He fell short but it didn't matter. The NY Mets didn't need him.

Yes it was another come back win just like in the series opener when the Mets gave Jonathan Niese an early 3-0 lead only to give it away but yea they still found a way and won, it set up the intriguing match up, Matt Harvey vs Jordan Zimmerman as Harvey was trying to win back the fans but unfortunately for Harvey he did not live up to the hype giving up 2 1st innings runs and another in the 2nd as the Mets fell behind 3-1 early.

It stayed that way until the bottom of the 6 when the Nationals came back for more and had seemed to had blown this one open.

Matt Harvey opened up the inning with a single to Yunel Escobar and a walk to Chris Robinson, Ian Desmond followed and bunted for the sacrifice back to Harvey who bobbled and lost the play, bases loaded and no outs. After a strike out of Met killer Wilson Ramos for the 1st out, rookie Michael Taylor ripped a singled up the middle and Yeonis Cespedes played it into a inside the park HR. Nationals 7 Mets 1.

Harvey was done and it looked like the Nats had just even up the series but these are the new Mets and it didn't take long for them to get back in the game cause the very next inning things would change dramatically, Jordan Zimmerman had held the Mets to only 1 run but by the 6th he had already thrown 100 pitches and it was time for the Nationals to go to the bullpen and it happened...

In came Blake Treinen and David Wright singled, Treinen got the next 2 outs but could not get the 3rd out, Michael Conforto walked and Wilmer Flores singled and that would be it for Treinen, in came the lefty Felipe Rivero to face Kelly Johnson and in came pinch hitter Juan Uribe who walked for the 1st run of the inning, Rivero then walked Granderson for another run and it was time to get Felipe Rivero out of the game. The Nationals were choking and Matt Williams was losing his patience, in came 8th inning man Drew Storen in the 7th as this had reached desperation.

The Nationals were withering away in front of the home crowd who tonight had stayed instead of an early exit from the night before, they had heard what Bryce Harper had to say but they should left, the bases were loaded and The Cuban Cigar! Yeonis Cespedes was at the plate and he was still smoking, Cespedes redeem himself and delivered buzzer one over the 3rd baseman into the left field corner to clear the bases 7-6 Nationals. The Nationals still had the lead but now it was only a matter of time, Storen was still out there but he was visibly shook, Matt Williams stayed with him and he went on to walk Daniel Murphy then David Wright to load the bases again, then it was Lucas Duda walking in the tying run.

8 straight Mets had reached base after 2 outs and you already knew the Nationals were not coming back from this one.

Matt Williams was still in desperation mode and in the 8th he called for his closer Jonathan Papelbon, Papelbon got the 1st 2 batters and Terry Collins called for Kirk Nieuwenhuis for the eventual game winner a dramatic HR giving the Mets the lead 8-7!

The Mets needed 6 more outs and in the bottom 8th in came former Nationals Tyler Clippard for the 1,2,3, in the 9th Jeurys Familia was looking to close the door on the Nationals for the 2nd straight night and an inning ending double play was all she wrote. The Mets had nailed another nail in the Nationals coffin.

At the end of the day the Mets had come all the way back to beat the Nationals for the 5th straight game. The line on Matt Harvey was not good, 5.1 innings, 8 hits, 7 earn runs, a clunker, hopefully Matt Harvey has learned his lesson. Baseball is a team sport and to win you have to be united like this NY Mets ball club, there is no place for ME drama and if Matt Harvey is about ME then maybe he should go play Tennis or Golf. He needs to understand that we Met fans like blue collar types, we like guys like Wilmer Flores who would cry to be on the Mets. Cause this isn't about Matt Harvey, this is about the NY METS!

How long have I been saying that already? That team needs a new manager or something because something is obviously not right. I know they had injuries but what team doesn't and when you look at the talent that they have, to lose like that at home tells you everything you need to know about that team. Mets magic number is 17, start the countdown! The Mets GM has taken a lot of shit in the press but he's done a great job this season, as has Collins because if you look at the line up the Mets were running out there April-July its a miracle that they were able to stay competitive. The 2 best teams since the break are the Mets and Blue Jays but the big difference is the Jays went all in to win now while the Mets were able to get leaps and bounds better while not really having to give up too much. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Mets get into the playoffs and all bets are off because of the starting pitching when I watch this team 2 things worry me; 1)Bullpen - In the playoffs, especially in the NL the bullpen is huge and I don't know how much you can trust those guys. 2) The Mets seem not to play up to the competition, granted that a lot of their games vs. playoff teams came earlier in the season but the sweep by the Pirates and dropping 2/3 to the Red Sox both at home is a bit concerning. The good thing is when the playoffs start everyone is 0-0.

I said like 2 months ago that I was surprised that Matt Williams was still the manager, look the Nationals have a lot of talent but talent is not everything, they have several ego's to go as well and that is never good, when they went out and got Papelbon I was happy cause I knew that would be a mistake, it's just not a good mix of guys. The Mets beating the Nationals like that at home was a back breaker I say its time to break that team up.

Sandy Alderson looks like a genius, the moves have all worked out, I always liked Alderson, it took a while but he never wavered and stayed on course. When you say the Mets didnt have to give up much and went leaps and bounds thats what I mean about Alderson staying on course and never rushing. I always liked is Collins, he may not be the best in game guy but his personality is perfect, you cant tell he is a straight shooter and thats not only with his players. I agree the 2 best teams right now are the Mets and Jays, even before the trades I was thinking if only the Mets make the playoffs with that pitching. Yea the bullpen is not the greatest but really who bullpen is great? look at the Dodgers, I saw them when they played the Mets and let me tell you the Mets bullpen looks great compare to them. I like Familia and Clippard as my 1,2, I also think the new guy Reed is going to do a good job, and you know I like Robles, I think we have enough. I know we got swept by the Pirates at home and what not but I'm not worried.
