World Series

After a break in the action it's time to finish out the season and see who will be the 2015 World Series champions! It all starts tomorrow night in Kansas City in a series between 2 teams that haven't tasted a WS victory since the mid 80's. For the NY Mets it's the 1st time they get to the fall classic in 15 years while the KC Royals are in it for the 2nd year in a row.

So let's break it down...

The AL Champions KC Royals are not your typical AL team who waits around for the long ball, they are that unique AL team that happens to play that national league baseball. The Royals are defense and speed 1st and can beat you in many ways, on top of that they make the most contact and because of that they don't strikeout much. They are a team that gives themselves a chance to win and the lineup 1 to 9 is stacked with gritty players who don't give away any at bats.

Yes the Kansas City Royals are a scrappy bunch with a lot of fight in but if there is one thing they can't match up well vs the NY Mets it is the starting rotation. They come at you with the 3 Dominicans and the veteran Chris Young and getting the ball in game #1 will be Edison Volquez who faces Matt Harvey, Volquez gets the ball over ace Johnny Cueto cause it is clear the Royals confidence in Cueto is shaky. Cueto will get the ball in game #2 where he will face Jacob deGrom.

In game #3 the Royals will go with their young flame thrower Yordano Ventura and the Mets with theirs in Noah Syndergaard. It will be Thor vs the Hot head Ventura. The Royals will need to keep an eye on Ventura who can get emotional and rattled if things don't go his way.

The pitching matchup ends with Chris Young the former Met who will take on the lefty Steven Matz.

I expect the Mets to score runs on the Royals staring pitching but if the Royals score on the Mets and lead at the end of games the Royals got the better arms coming out of the bullpen. Kelvin Herrera, Ryan Madson and Wade Davis will be ready for the 7th, 8th and 9th.

It is clear that the NY Mets have the edge in the staring pitching, they bring the HEAT! but the Royals have it in the pen, but what about the lineup? I simply look for the Mets lineup to outscore the Royals.

For the Mets the plan is simple, score enough runs, get 7 innings from the starters, and give the ball to Juerys Familia for an inning plus. For the KC Royals they will be hoping to get a solid 5 or 6 inning and give it to the bullpen.

I am obviously excited about this WS, my Mets are in it and they look good, I love what the team has and what they represent, the players are focus and they seem to have the edge to get it done. But they still have to beat out the KC Royals a team who just fell short in 2014 in 7 games vs the SF Giants. In 2015 the KC Royals have to go all the way for them to have success. It is what it is but the Royals have the added pressure to get it done, as for the Mets, they are here when no one expected them to be here, they are the new kids on the block and they are the ones playing with house money. For the NY Mets all they gotta do is believe and win, completing a dream season that is already one to remember for the fanbase and franchise.

The KC Royals are a wonderful team that does all the little things to win games but so do the Mets. I like my Mets to go all the way but it won't be easy. One of these teams will end a long drought so Let's Go Mets!!

Well...there there were 2. What an exciting matchup with the young upstart Royals, looking to finish what they came so close to doing last year before falling to the SF bumgarners in 7 games. This year they're not facing a 1 man gang like they did last year, they're facing what many consider the most dominating starting pitching staff in MLB. Alright, let's break it down:
Catchers - Perez vs. D'Arnaud - If Perez were healthy I'd easily give him the edge but because he's so banged up I'll go with the Mets.
First Base - Hosmer vs. Duda - Duda finally woke up in Game 4 vs. the Cubs. Have to go with Hosmer in this one.
Second Base - Zobrist vs. Murphy - Murphy has been on another planet with his playing. Zobrist is no slouch, I've made no secret of how much I would love to see him on the Yankees. With that said Murphy gets the nod.
Third Base - Moustakas vs. Wright - Wright has had a couple of big hits thus far but other than that, not much else. Edge to the Royals.
Short - Escobar vs. Flores - Escobar won the ALCS MVP. Edge Royals.
Outfield - Gordon, Cain, Rios vs. Conforto, Cespedes, Grandy - I have to go overall with the Royals in this one.
DH - Morales vs. Johnson - Morales is much better than anything the Mets will run out there.
Starting Pitching - No brainer - Mets have a big edge there.
Relief Pitching - No brainer - Royals have a big edge there.
Bench - I dont think either of these teams use their bench much so I'll go with Push
Manager - Royals have been winning despite Yost. I'll go with Collins

Well, way back in game 1 of the LDS vs. the Dodgers I texted you with my bold prediction that if the Mets win that series they'll win it all so I can't change now. Mets in a very hard fought, closely contested 5 games.

Man so you think the Mets in 5? man I don't care how many games as long as the Mets win it all.

I'll take the Mets OF over the Royals in this series, everything else you said I agree with.

Can't wait for tonight!

In the pool I'm taking Mets in 5, but it'll probably be in 6.

As for the OF, I give the slight edge to the Royals OF.

In a bit of irony, the Mets open the 2016 season in Kansas City.
