2 Weeks in and the Yanks are the early surprise.

It's early but the New York Yankees have given their fans in the Bronx some early hope to start off their 2017 campaign.

After a 1-4 start to the season the Yanks have run the table winning their next 8 games, they are fresh off consecutive sweeps of the Rays and Cardinals and took the opener to their home series vs the White Sox last night to make it a 8 game winning streak.

So far the pitching has held up and their youth movement has had their moments, but again it is way too early so things can change quickly.

The Yanks are off to a nice start and this just gives their fans added excitement and more optimism going forward, making for a much more exciting baseball season in NY. The Yanks have done this pretty much without Gary Sanchez who has only played in 5 games, and Greg Bird who is off to a slow start, and no Didi Gregorious yet.

These are the early numbers...

Right now the Yanks offensively are 4th in hitting, 2nd in runs, and 4th in HR in MLB. In the pitching dept. the Yankees have a team ERA of 3.19 which is 4th in MLB, compare to the Mets team ERA which is 10th in the league at 3.59.

So far the numbers are good and that has the Yankees with a 9-4 start.

As for the Mets...

They are 7-6 but are coming off a tough series vs the Miami Marlins in which they lost the last 3 games of a 4 game series in heartbreaking fashion.

The Mets were able to win the 1st game of the series but it took 16 innings and to me that game left the Mets bullpen running on fumes for the rest of the series.

Fernando Salas and Addison Reed gave it up to lose the last 2 games in which the Mets had to win.

So far the Mets have gotten nothing from Jose Reyes who is batting 087, but you have to be happy with the early starts from Jay Bruce and Travis d'Arnaud. The Mets starting pitching is where it needs to be and I think going forward the Mets are on the right track.

Wheeler and Harvey have looked good so far so I'm optimistic about them going forward.

Again it's early but so far so good, but let's give this another 2 weeks and lets see where things fall as we get into May.

While very happy with the 8 game winning streak I'm not getting too excited. Like what I'm seeing thus far from the Yankees, seems like everyone is doing their part but like you said its early. The good thing is when the slump comes, which it will, this streak will help pad the numbers. With that being said I am very curious to see when this team has Sanchez and Didi back in the line up.
I haven't been too up on the Mets, I did see that they lost some tough ones in Miami but are now playing their resident punching bags the Phillies so that should get them right back on track. Let's see how the next couple of weeks play out.

Right now the Mets offense has yet to hit, also too many mistakes running the bases and defensive errors has cost them early on, also here come the injuries. On the other hand the Yanks have their offense going and their pitching has held up nicely so far, but it's going to be interesting to see how they manage once they hit a bit of a snag.

Rough weekend for the Mets, getting swept at home by the Nats. As for the Yanks, things are going well, we're playing with house money. Remember that the Yankees aren't expected to do anything this year, as long as the young guys keep playing well and getting better thats all that really matters.
