Yankees salvage bad week with a 4-3 finish

What a week it was for the New York Yankees who finished the week at 4-3.
It was an improvement to the previous week finish of 3-3, but it was the way they lost the 3 games that had Yankees fans furious.
1st the week got started with a series vs the Tampa Bay Ray's in which the Yankees took 2 out of 3 to win the series, but it was the 1st game of that series which ended in a 15 to 5 lost that had the Yankees worried about starting pitcher Chien Ming Wang who got hit hard and often for the 2nd straight outing. After winning the next two games, the Yankees headed back home for the opening of the new Yankee Stadium. The Cleveland Indians came into town for the festivities as CC Sabathia got the honors to start the game and was coming off his 1st win as a Yankee when he beat the Tampa Bay Ray's, last week. Sabathia would go on to give the Yankees 5 plus innings but would leave the game tied at 1 after he had gone over 100 pitches.
That would be the end for the Yankees when the bullpen led by a trio of Dominicans Edwar Ramirez, Jose Veras, and Damaso Marte blew up for 9 runs in the 7th that was capped by a Grady Sizemore grand Salami. It was not the grand opener the Yankee fans were looking for as they would go on to lose the inaugural 10 to 2. On Saturday after winning the 2nd game of the series 6-5, the Yankees pitching would go on to give up a franchise record 14 runs in the 2nd inning, in a game that was started by Chien Ming Wang who allowed 8 of the 14 runs. It was his 3rd start of the season, and in all 3 games Wang has been horrible with an ERA of over 30.
It got so bad that for the 2nd time this week, the fans began to shout WE WANT SWISHER!!! as in Nick Swisher who made his Yankee pitching debut when he came in that 10 to 2 game to help relieve the team, and did well with a scoreless inning, even strike out a batter. At the end, the Yankees would go on to lose 22- 4, as many Yankees fans were calling for Chien Ming Wang head. Wang has been so bad in his 3 outing that he has reminded me of Ian Kennedy with the way he has looked on the mound and his demeanor, he looked scared.
The final game of the series was salvage by the Yankees who beat the Indians and former foe Carl Pavano 7-3. Pavano and the Indians had a chance to win the game and the series when he had a 3-1 in through 7 innings. But a base loaded ball that fell unharmed in the outfield to clear the bases in the 8th, and a controversial HR by Jorge Posada did the Indians in. Yankees WIN!

Another problem that I want to talk about and that the Yankees are facing at the moment, are the many HR's hit in just the 1st week at the new stadium. Many are already calling the new Yankee Stadium a launching pad of a stadium, and have even compared it to the park in Philadelphia. There were 160 homeruns hit in Yankee stadium last season, and in the 1st week at the new stadium, they are on pace to hit over 400 HR's this season. Yes it is only the 1st week of the season but the balls are flying out, and imagine when the weather starts to get hot in June and July, how many more HR's will be flying out?

One has to wonder if the new Yankee stadium was a mistake when building this new Cathedral. When the Yankees made their announcement that they were building a new stadium, I said why are the Yankees building a new stadium when they already play in a landmark with so much history that no other team in any sport can brag about.

The announcement to build the new Yankee stadium was made right after the Mets had made their announcement that they were building a new stadium. For the Mets it was a great idea, everyone in baseball had said it was about time, that Shea stadium was outdated and had long been called an eyesore for many years. It was about time for the Mets, perfect. Not to long after is was made official that the Mets were building a new home, the Yankees came out and said they were building a new ballpark of their own, and that's when I said, what for?
Why? because the Yankees and the Steinbrenner's were not going to let the Mets build a shiny new stadium and take away the shine away from the Glorious New York Yankees.
NO WAY JOSE!
The New Yankees stadium was built at twice the cost of CitiField, but the mistake was made when they built it exactly the same as the old 1923 version of the house that Ruth built, but without the old dimensions. This was made to accommodate the homerun hitting Yankee lineup of today so that they can hit even more homeruns. Now on the very 1st home stand, the Yankees are finding out that other teams like the Cleveland Indians can hit the long ball too, and this is what can happen if the pitching is not up to par. Yes the Yankees will hit more homeruns this season but is this the kind of baseball you want to give you're fans? I'm for sure not a fan of this, and that is why I'm glad the Mets built a big park, a pitcher's park, just like Shea was.

The Yankees will now get ready for a series with the Oakland A's at the Stadium, then head out to Boston for 3 with the Red Sox.

The Yankees are another team that started slowly but they’ve turned it around. Since Alex Rodriguez returned, the entire squad has played much better. They should keep going to keep pace with the others. I really like them; they’ve always been my favourite teams in MLB. Just read about them here:
