Burnett throws a stinker, Yanks fall to 0-6 vs Boston
The New York Yankees have been a team on a mission of late winning games big, or in comeback fashion. But last night the Yankees could only muster 2 hits off of the Red Sox pitching as the Sox made it 6 in a row against their rivals this season. Starter AJ Burnett was awful in this one lasting just 2 innings as his counter part Josh Beckett was on big time. Big Papi went deep vs Burnett for a 2 run shot in the 2nd, and the Sox's tagged on 2 more to make 4-0 early on. It would be pretty much all that was needed on this night as Beckett would go for 6 strong innings, striking out 8 Yankees, while allowing only 1 hit, as the Sox are now tied with the Yanks for 1st place in the East. These 2 teams still have 13 more games to go this season, but as of now it is all Boston. The series continues on tonight as Chien Ming Wang will be back on the hill as a starter vying for his 1st win of the season, and the Yankees 1st win to the Sox. Boston mainstay, Tim Wakefield will get the call trying to make it 7 in a row. Not much else can be said but hopefully tonight we will get a much more competitive game.
