Shaking things up

Trying to shake things up for the fast falling Mets, Omar Minaya sent Ryan Church to Atlanta in exchange for Jeff Francouer in a trade of Right Fielders.
With the trade the Mets get to see someone other then the current cast of characters that Jerry Manuel has been sending out as everyday players. Met fans who have been waiting for Omar Minaya to do something for some time now finally got someone new to talk about because lately the Mets have become unwatchable.
No offense and shaky defense has become the norm of late for a team that has fallen 6 and a half games out in the standing. They play hard but for the most part the Mets are looking like a team that should not even be in the Major Leagues.
In the last 5 games the Mets have been shout out 3 times, so it was time for Omar to do something, no more standing pat.
Ever since Jose Reyes joined Carlos Delgado in the DL back on May 12 the Met fans have been waiting for something to happen, waitng for the Mets organization to shake things up and do something to make things better. Well last night Omar made his 1st move and to be honest I like it alot. Omar who at 1st decided not to panic and ride the wave of misfortunes that has be fallen the Mets for some time now could not wait no more as the team just kept losing ground in the standings. So on Friday Ryan Church was no longer a Met making room for Francouer.

Not to long ago I mention that if Omar was to shake things up that Ryan Church would probably be the 1st guy dealt. The trade would come out of no where as I was watching the game on Friday night and herd the Mets announcers talking about the deal in the pre-game show.

1- For starters Church is 30 and Francouer is 25.

2- In the outfield both are solid fielders, they both have good arms but Francouer carries a cannon.

3- Looking at the numbers Church has really never put up the # that Francouer has, twice driving in over 100 runs with the Braves.

Both players were in need of a change of scenery and both teams are hoping that this could be one of those trade that can be beneficial for both parties, but if you ask me I think the Mets got the best out of this one, only time will tell. At times Church was a good player for the Mets especially when he 1st arrived last season with a hot bat until suffering his 2nd concusion which from then on Church was unable to recapture that same form. This season Church has failed and has not been able to blend in, there was the time back in May when Church did not touch 3rd base when he was coming home for what would had been the go ahead run in a game vs Dodgers, it was a crucial play that could given the Mets a 3-2 lead in the 8th inning of that game but instead was called out as the Mets would go on to lose the game in 11 innings 3-2 when Angel Pagan and Carlos Beltran miscommunication in the outfield led to a fly ball dropping between them for the winning run. There has also been some disagreement between Church and the manager Jerry Manuel that did not paint a good picture. At the time it was kind of the beginning of what has been the THEME of late for the brand of baseball that the Mets have been associated with, with the bad plays on defense, and guys like Church making boneheaded plays. This is what this season has been about all about so far, the stumbling Mets! a depleted team with injuries and backup players who in reality have no right to be playing as everyday players.
Tonight as a Met fan, I at least get to see something new other then the same old AAA lineup that the Mets have been featuring for way to long now. Tonight there will be Jeff Francouer out in right field trying to bring a little excitement to what has become rather stale to see from the Mets. As a fan all you want is a chance to win, and with Francouer in the lineup tonight it at least makes me believe that our chances will be a little better with him out there, so let's go Mets!!!
