8 run 4th sets Mets record

The season that never was is almost over, but there are still some games left to be played, and so with really nothing left but the schedule the Mets gave the fans a feel good day at the new ballpark with David Wright & Alex Cora back cheering their teammates on from the bench. Wright just back from his beaning on Saturday, and Cora back from thumb surgery, witness an 8 run attack on the wildcard contending Braves. No one expected to see this kind of a hit parade, not from this current Mets lineup, but what the fans got to see was a franchise record 10 hits in one inning off of Atlanta starter Derek Lowe who was going up against, you guess it, Ollie Perez, the 2 guys the Mets were pondering during the off season on who to sign. With the Mets down 4-0 in the 4th, things would quickly change on Lowe who by the end of the inning was seen sweating in disbelief on the bench trying to figure out what had just hit him. Braves manager Bobby Cox tried leaving in Lowe as long as he could but it was a mistake as Lowe would leave the inning unfinished.

That was a lot of fun, said Jeff Francouer, we just keep pounding balls into the gap, the one thing you don't want to do is hit a home run., that's a rally-killer, and that's how it went down last night. Gary Sheffield had 2 doubles in that amazing 4th inning, 3 on the night, and Jeff Francouer and Luis Castillo added 3 more each, you could not help but cheer on the Metsie's and the fans did just that, they have played hard all season, and even though they made plenty of mistakes along the way and would lose most of their games, you were very happy on this night.

The Mets played spoilers and that's all they really have going the rest of the way, that and evaluating the players they may want to bring back for 2010.

The final score was 9-5, and as soon as the 3rd and final out was made it came down in buckets, a hail storm washed down on the 5 boroughs of NYC, HARD!, it was like an act of GOD, it was just in time.

All this time has passed since your last post and you talk about the insignificant 2009 Mets because they scored eight runs in one inning? What the hell man?

Also, if you are going to quote Jeff Francouer, then you have to qoute Jeff Francouer.

You think "GOD" made it rain? You don't think it had anything to do with water vapor and cloud formation? I'm just saying.

Actually, what I'm really saying is cover the two teams if that's what you say you are going to do. Mets suck so unless it is something negative about them we shouldn't hear anything about the non-amazin's. Not this yr anyway. Start giving the praise that is due to the Bronx Bombers, the best team in the Majors.

I have to agree with Danny on this one. This is suppose to be a New York baseball blog and no mention of the best team in the majors? Seems a bit suspicious.

bla bla bla, this is a NY baseball blog but as you can already tell it is 70% Mets, why don't guys go and team up and cover the Yankees so that I can rip them too.

Maybe if you give me some time I will right something on your boys from the Bronx, maybe things get a little busy, who knows, I was just on my lunch break sitting in a starbucks writing about the Yanks so chill the fuck up. Oh and Danny stop being a hater, I write my own way, and if you really know me you would know I don't care about god, Vapors and Clouds will make it rain and that's what happen I am just writing about how it went down.

Oh, and so what if I write about my Mets 1st, you want me to write about the Yankees beating OAK? maybe if they get swept it would be something to write about, but the truth is that there is really nothing to say about the Yanks that we all already know, they are the best team in baseball right now, and it has become stale seeing them beat up on these crappy teams, so chill out and wait for the playoffs homey.

In the meantime check back at me in a few and I will give you something on your Yanks.

Yeah, it's stale when the Yanks sweep the sux. You missed that one buddy. I think you were so shocked that they swept that you couldn't write for two weeks. I understand.

I like a man who can admit his shortcomings. I have none so it's not hard. HA HA
