Yankees stay on top, & the Mets continue to suck.

Right now the NY Yankees look like the best team in baseball & the Mets are just a multitude of suckyness. Those damm Yankees are looking like a team of world beaters who will never lose a series, while my Mets look like they may never win one. Now I haven't really been watching much of the Yankees games on TV but the highlights they show of them look amazing. All they do is win win win, & all the Mets know is how to lose. Right now there is no offense with these Mets so what you have is a bunch of tense up players & a manager looking for answers, while the Yanks seem to be going through the motions.

If the Mets don't change their ways soon Jerry Manuel may not make it to June. Right now the Mets are simply awful. They have no confidence that they will win a game & even when they have a lead you feel it coming. No one can hit the baseball consistently & we thought it would be the pitching that would do us in but it has been the hitting.

These Mets are unwatchable so changes need to be made & it has already started. 1st to go is Mike Jacobs who was designated for assignment which means your fired! In his place the Mets will call up the kid Ike Davis who should had been here on opening day. Now I don't know who's decision it was to leave Ike Davis behind for Jacobs but Davis should had been the starting 1st basement from the get go, especially once we lost Daniel Murphy. I don't want to see Jacobs or Tatis anymore when I have a guy like IKE. And no more Matthews Jr. over Angel Pagan, give me more Pagan. And about John Maine, well like I said last week, time to give this guy the boot, the guy is throwing fastballs and the pitching coach Warthen thinks he's throwing change ups. Right now the players have not responded to Jerry Manuel, & yes it is still way to early in the season so he's got a little more time to do some good. If not we might be seeing a Wally Backman or a Bob Melvin, or maybe it's Bobby V all over again.

Changes need to be made & right now we will start with some players. If the players don't step it up then it's bye bye Jerry. Jason Bay needs to get it going, Jose Reyes who still seems to be in spring training mode needs to get it going. Right now it's more about the offense not doing their part. It all seems to be physiological but I'm no physiologist. The team is lifeless and we need some guys to grow some cojones. Not even the 20 inning marathon win on Saturday could lift these Mets spirits, they look drained.

It was another 2-4 week of baseball for the Mets, & another week in last place, all this is happening while on the other side of town the pinstripe's continue to win & step up their game with a 5-1 week of dominating baseball. The Yankees just keep on winning & they have only gotten 1 HR a piece from A-ROD & Texiera. The pitching has been solid and they are beating up some good teams by wide margins. Right now the NY Yankees look like they will easily defend their title, while the Mets look like the last place team that they are.

Go ahead, add fuel to the fire.

Ok, I'm going to channel Dennis Green here about the Mets: "THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE" Ha ha!

Ok, its obvious this Mets team has problems. When they pitch well they can't hit and when they hit they can't pitch well. Things are looking good in Queens and like I said at this pace I would be shocked if Manuel and Omar are employed by June 1st.

Getting away from AAAA and looking at MLB. The Yankees are rolling right now, 2 out of 3 in Boston, 2 out of 3 in Tampa, 2 out of 3 vs. Anaheim and a sweep of Texas. Things are looking good thus far in the Bronx. Yankees have a big road trip now where they come out here to Oakland to play the surprising A's for 3, then to Anaheim and then to play the lowly Orioles. Lets see if the Yankees can keep it going.

Wow. That Dennis Green quote is on the money. Good call.

It's knock so much a knock on the Mets as it is ..... well, that the Mets are who they are. You can't expect great things when you have management going into a series with a team that won the WS not too long ago stating that it's ok if we only win one of three. That's a crazy perspective to take as the leader of a business. The business is sports where confidence is everything. The crazy thing is that Omar was just resigned. The Mets will HAVE TO eat that money to fire him.

Jerry Manuel is a free spirit and loosy goosy so the media likes him but he needs to put his foot down. Enough is enough. Either he does things to look like he's trying to pump the club or he will be on the highway to the couch.

That's just how I see it.

The Yanks ARE rolling. Can not complain. Being consistent and winning series. If the Yanks keep this up, I'm going to start mentioning 1998. How can I not? Gardener is coming into his own. The other day this guy got three infield hits and caused complete destruction on the base pads. We like to say someone like Tex and Arod can easily change a game... well Gardener's no different. Dynamic to say the least.

How good is Nick Johnson? The guy hasn't even started hitting and he's on base all the time. He's unreal. What an eye on that guy. Granderson has been flying under the radar with his good start. The media loves him because "he speaks so well." Ray will get that reference. Curtis is one of the better people in the world and I'm only speaking about his personality and people skills. We did well this off season.

I'm looking for Javy to get on track. I think he will. He's started well a couple of times and seems to run into trouble around the 4th inning. I'm sure Dave Eiland is working on it. Always important to keep in mind that Javy had a Cy Young SECOND half last yr so I can give him time while the Yanks are winning at this pace.

The Red Sox line for the last week looks something like 1,1,1,2,5,0,1. Those are runs I'm talking about. You can have all the pitching and defense in the world but if u can't average two or three runs a game, you're in deep shit in any league. In fact they are losing 8-2 RIGHT NOW. TB is going to sweep them In Fenway. Another thing is, and I said it a couple of weeks ago. The Boston pitching is not as good as it looks on paper.

All this being said, it is April.

Well not much else that can be added, I think we have it all covered, but to keep things going, yea I think the Yankees may give that 1998 season some competition.

The Sox's are not hitting right now & are emulating the Mets but I don’t think that will continue with them.

And how about the legend of Jason Heywood, I think we are seeing the next Ken Griffey Jr.

So did anybody find out that 4th Dominican pitcher too throw a no no besides Marichal, Ramon Martinez, & now Ubaldo Jimenez?

Hayes Daze said...

Drumroll.... and the 4th Dominican pitcher to throw a no hitter was.....

Jose Jiminez. Who? Yeah.

He did it on Jun 25 1999 for the St Louis Cardinals vs the Arizona Diamondbacks. .

Jose Jimenez was 24-44 for his career with a 4.82 ERA. He did however have 110 saves.

23 days later David Cone pitched his perfect game.

Jesus I don't even remember anything about that guy, and with that career record now I know why.
