Excited for the NY Mets

It's that time of the year again, time for the 2015 MLB to begin their season and check out my favorite sports team the NY Mets. Another year to begin optimistic in hopes that the team can surprised and give you ride, and after 6 straight seasons of losing baseball in Queens my expectations for the Mets have risen.

I like see, The Mets are a year older and the team looks focus and ready to make some progress. I understand this is pretty much the same team from last year that won 79 games but there are some real reasons to get excited.

Why?

Cause Matt Harvey is back! After missing the entire 2014 season the Dark Knight is ready to lead the way, ready to put the Mets back on the map. It took 16 months and now he's is fully recovered showing off that 99mph. Matt Harvey he is ready and he deserves your attention.

I believe in Matt Harvey and the Mets pitching and I'm looking for a playoff run, because when you have pitching anything can happen and the Mets have it, and it's not only Matt Harvey who gets me excited, back is NL rookie of the year Jacob deGrom for his 2nd campaign and with Harvey and deGrom the NY Mets are going to win!

The rotation looks solid because the Mets have 5 guys who they can send out every day and get the job done, after Harvey and deGrom you have the lone steady lefty Jonathan Niese, after Niese it's the hefty veteran in Bartolo Colon who will get the opening day nod, and as the #5 in the rotation the Mets will go with Dillon Gee who will be taking over for Zack Wheeler who will miss the entire 2015 season with Tommy John.

Zack Wheeler is a definite blow to the rotation but no worries cause the Mets are just buying time until some of their other young crop of arms are ready to be called up later in the season.

Dillon Gee fills in for now but I expect some better options soon, guys like Rafael Montero who will make the team in the bullpen, or other real options who are just waiting for the call like Noah Syndergaard or the lefty Steven Matz.

When it comes to starting pitching the Mets are deep but what about the bullpen? When it come to the bullpen the Mets have issues but I think we have some guys that can make it happen. I guys like Vic Black and former closer Bobby Parnell, both will start the season on the DL but both should help out later on and give the Mets a boost in the bullpen. But to start out the season you have to worry a little, especially with the 3 lefties in pen. The 1st is Jerry Blevins who the Mets just got from the Nationals a week ago, and another is rule 5 guy Sean Gilmartin, and Alex Torres who the Mets got from the Padres the same day they got Blevins. Hopefully 1 of these guys will stick. The rest of the bullpen will consist of Carlos Torres who I like as the long guy and the 3 Dominicans, Rafael Montero, last year 8th inning man Jeurys Familia, and the closer should be Jenri Mejia who can make you go for the Rolaids. These 3 should be the 7th 8th and 9th innings guys but I'm hoping that Parnell and Black can come back strong later in the season and solidify the bullpen, for now I worry that the Mets may lose some early games.

What about the offense and the lineup?

The biggest questions this offseason was will the Mets get a legit shortstop? there were numerous names thrown around as who the Mets should go after, names like Didi Gregorios and Stephen Drew who both ended up with the Yankees, and who I wanted no part of, names like Everth and Asdrubal Cabrera who do not excite me, and you had the better choices like Starlin Castro and Troy Tulowitzki but the Mets did nothing and went with the youngster Wilmer Flores and I'm ok with it. Flores will not win you any golden gloves but I believe he will hit, make the routine plays and I think he is ready to show and prove. Other than the change at shortstop the everyday day lineup is set and looks the same as last year, the infield has Lucas Duda power bat at 1st, Daniel Murphy stick at 2nd, the captain is at 3rd looking to bounce back from a shoulder injury, in the outfield new comer and free agent Michael Cuddyer will join his old Virginia buddy David Wright in LF, in RF you have Curtis Granderson, and in CF Juan Lagares and his gold glove defense, and the catcher will be Travis d'Arnaud who looks to continue where he left off in 2014 where in the 2nd half d'Arnaud came back from the minors looking like a different player.

The Mets have a great group of guys who have been together for some time now and with the starting pitching the Mets will win games. The Mets on the right track, the fans are hungry and I'm very optimistic about what this team can do in 2015.

So Lets get things started and Lets go Mets!
