In my 1st post of the season I mention my excitement for the 2015 NY Mets, this year the Mets will be good, we will make the playoffs because there is enough young talent and the team plays for each other. Well 1 month into the season and the Mets find themselves in 1st place tied with the best record in baseball where they ran off a 11 game winning streak, but now the team finds themselves in a bit of a spiral, they have lost 3 in a row, and the injuries to Travis d'Arnaud, Jerry Blevins, Rafael Montero and David Wright seem to be catching up.
But what really is catching up with the Mets is their current defensive situation up the middle, Wilmer Flores and Daniel Murphy are the worst double play combination in the game and the Mets need to address this if they want to continue their early season success. Addressing the situation starts tonight as the Mets have promoted prospect Dilson Herrera who will replace Murphy at 2nd as Murphy moves to 3rd until David Wright comes back from the DL.
A change had to be made because last night the Mets lost their 1st game at home to their biggest challengers the Washington Nationals in a game the Mets defense simply gave away. Jacob deGrom was seemingly cruising along until the 4th inning where the game got away, with a 2-0 lead deGrom walked the leadoff hitter but he than got the next batter Yunel Escobar to hit into what looked like a tailor made double play that was botched by Wilmer Flores opening the doors for the Nats, deGrom who doesn't rattles easily seemed to let this one get too him, coming off his worst outing vs the Yankees where he was rough up badly, deGrom was unable to pick up Flores, the very next hitter Jason Werth banged a hard single for the 1st Nats hit of the game making it 2-1 Mets, deGrom than walked Bryce Harper to load up the bases and still no outs, Ryan Zimmerman followed with a deep fly to Juan Lagares to tied the game at 2 for the 1st out, Wilson Ramos than grounded out to Flores for the 2nd out giving the Nats the 3-2 lead, 1 hit in the inning and 1 big error and the Mets had lost control of the game, they were not able to recover. The once confidence team has now lost some swag, their unbeaten 10-0 record at home has taken a hit and it was because they beat themselves.
The Mets need to fend off the Nationals tonight who have started off poorly but who now have won 3 straight games in come from behind fashion. The Mets have decided to mix things up by bringing up their 2nd baseman of the future, Murphy's replacement is here which means Daniel Murphy's days as a Met are numbered. Daniel Murphy has been a steady Met, a reliable bat in the lineup who's defense of late in not paying off due to his slow start. I think it is time to move on, time for a defensive upgrade at the 2nd or Shortstop position, for now the Mets have decided that it is at 2nd because for sure you can't have 2 middle infielders that are below average if you plan to contend. This is Daniel Murphy last year on his contract, next year he will be up for bigger bucks and I don't think he is worth keeping after this season, no need to pay Murphy big $$$ when you already had his best years, time too move on and give the job to the next man, Dilson Herrera. What happens next when David Wright is ready to come back to the lineup will be interesting, will the Mets send Herrera back to the minors and give Daniel Murphy position back? Only time will tell, either way a decision needs to be made when the time comes for David Wright's return. For now the Mets look to avoid a 4 game losing streak as they will give the ball to their ace ''the dark knight'' Matt Harvey who looks to go to 5-0 and stop the Nationals from getting momentum and turning their season around.
Lets go Mets!!!

Yea I know, I need a Yankee man to cover the other side with a more Yankees feel to it, how about you cover your boys with your view instead of me trying to bash those fuckers? hehehe
Don't worry I am getting ready to put out my current state of the Yankees review this week, just can't seem to get hyped about those bastards LOL.
