It was another lost for the NY Mets and Yankees, 1st the Mets who come off a 4 game sweep of the upstart Cubs, last night at home, it was another L to the lowly Brewers in a game they could only mustered 3 hits. After their 11 game winning streak was snapped by the Yankees the Mets have been 7-12 and have now lost a season high 5 in a row. Yea the wheels are coming off, it is still early but I also have some serious concerns, the offense is lifeless with the guys getting paid to hit, Granderson, Cuddyer and Duda slumping like dogs and David Wright and Travis d'Arnuad are still weeks away. How bad is the offense? Wilmer Flores currently leads the team in HR, also Flores's play at short is another concern that the Mets have, I want to believe in Flores as the SS going forward but he has not helped his cause and the fans are getting inpatient, errors are leading to runs and loses, on top of that Dilson Herrera the young 2nd basement who came up a couple a weeks ago to help the defense situation up the middle is now heading to the DL which means that Flores and Murphy '' the worst double play combo in the game" are gonna go at it again. While the pitching has been good the offense has not, yea pitching wins games but you also cant be 26th in hitting in the majors if you want to contend.
On the other side of town the NY Yankees are also in the middle of a slide, a 4 game losing streak in which their offense has also been the blame. Still you expect the bats to wake up soon especially when they get back to the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium. The difference between the Mets and the Yankees is that the Yankees play in the AL east where the TB Rays are the current chasers, as for the Mets they have to worry about the Washington Nationals who look ready to take control of the NL east.
Yup the NY baseball scene is having a rough week, the Yankees get hammered by the Royals 12-1 when their ace is on the mound, and Bartolo Colon has one of those days vs the last place Brewers.
Still early but still worry.

Like I said, its way too early to get too up or down over anything. When the Mets were on the winning streak earlier this season, the way some Mets fan were carrying on you would have thought that they were scouting a spot along the parade route. Yes, both teams has a bit of a rough week but then yesterday the Yankees had a very impressive win vs the Royals and the Mets laid it on the Brewers. As for your division comment, no one picked the Mets to finish ahead of the Nationals and the Nats are now starting to play like the team that everyone thought we would see, the market is starting to correct itself in the NL East. As for the AL East, Tampa has been playing well even with the injuries that they've had but just like the NL East things will correct themselves over the long run. Again, way too early to get too up or down, we're still in May after all.
I'm surprised that TB has been able to play this well with all the injuries too their pitching., Cobb, Moore off the head, that's 2 quality arms.
Yea no one picked the Mets to win the division, but with baseball you just never know.
Things have really gone off the rails in NY baseball the last couple of weeks. Luckily for me and for them the Rangers are taking up all the attention but these teams better get it together soon.
