And the Mets take it!

So it has happened, the NY Mets have won the 2015 NL East when few had picked them to even make the playoffs. The experts didn't give the Mets much of a chance and if they did that was to be via the Wildcard but here we are today celebrating.

At the beginning of the season I had high hopes for the Mets simply because they had the key ingredient, they had the arms and anything can happen in baseball when you have the pitching.

Yes the Mets took the 1st step to what hopefully leads to bigger things but it was bound to happen after the team everyone had picked to win the NL East and go all the way did not live up to the hype. If the Washington Nationals were going to stink up the joint than the NY Mets were going to take it and on Saturday they made it official.

A 4 game sweep of the Reds in Cincinnati and the Mets got themselves back on the winning track after a few bumps at home that had brought some concern to the always nervous.

There was Matt Harvey on the mound on Saturday ready for the clincher and he was ready for more. There he was pitching well into game where he needed to be, finally doing the right thing and it was nice to see that this time around Matt Harvey had got it right. Hopefully he has learned his lesson and from here on in Matt Harvey is ready to pitch his heart out for the orange and blue like he did on Saturday.

As a fan who has gone through the last few years of growing pains and patiently waiting for this team to get to this level, it was nice to finally see their success come to life. It was only a matter of time to get the party started and once it did I appreciated the celebration and the emotions that comes with it.

It was nice to see the Mets get back on the field to celebrated with the many diehards who had made the trip in support of their hero's.

It was nice to see guys like David Wright come back and be able to celebrate with his teammates, nice to see the good captain back in the playoffs 9 years later.

It was nice to see the manager Terry Collins who for the 1st 4 years had to endure it and on his 5th year he found his 1st ever division title. The oldest manager in baseball now gets to see what the playoffs are all about and I feel good that the old geezer will figure it out.

This was a team effort but I have to give credit where credit is due and to me it especially goes to the GM Sandy Alderson for staying on course and not panicking or overreacting, for not listening to the media and the fans calls. It wasn't easy but he got it done. Sandy understood that this is a long process and that there are no short cuts to be taken when building a team from within, what you need is time and in NY that's the hard part.

I am happy for what the Mets have been able to build here. No team is more fun to watch with all their homegrown players caring for each other and playing as one.

It has all worked out and the Mets are jelling, what you have is a team consisting of older homegrowns like David Wright, Daniel Murphy, Jonathan Niese, Bobby Parnell, Rueben Tejada and Lucas Dudas mixed in with the new generation of home talent and it's all perfect. It makes the NY Mets a joy to watch on a daily basis.

Because Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Zack Wheeler, Steven Matz, Travis d'Arnaud, Juan Lagares, Kevin Palwecki, Dilson Herrera, Wilmer Flores, Michael Conforto, Rafael Montero and Jeurys Familia are the new age of NY Mets that will help get it done and hopefully bring this overdue franchise a title.

In 2006 I felt promise and excitement because I saw a future that never came, but in 2015 I can honestly say that the future is finally here in the present and that the NY Mets with all that pitching look ready.

Hopefully there will be more celebrations to come in 2015 but today I'll enjoy what I have in front.

So congratulation to the NY Mets!

Congrats to the Mets on the NL East. Terry Collins did a great job of managing this team and they deserve this championship. Was really happy for David Wright, that guy just seems like a good dude and to see him back after everything he's been through is great. What a job by the GM, I remember telling you when they hired him that it was a good move by the Mets and its starting to pay off.

Thanks, I always liked Sandy hiring because I knew he was going to put his stamp on building the system although a lot of these Mets are Minaya guys Sandy continued and stayed on course without trading away the gems, i mean that RA Dickey trade for Noah and d'Arnaud was a heist. When it comes to nice guys you can't go wrong with David Wright, he may not be that superstar that can carry you but you just know he is always going to do the right thing.

Your Dodgers seem to be falling apart at the wrong time, if they lose today the Mets will be 2 games up on the home field.
You peep that B. Harper and Papelbon shit? I knew when the Nats got Papelbon it was the wrong move.

Yeah, I was going to write about the Dodgers in my comment but wanted to keep the focus on the Mets. Things have not been good the last week or so but all they need is 1 win to wrap it up.
I did see the Nats thing, crazy shit. Its like the Bronx Zoo days just without the winning. Oh well, serves them right for bringing in Paplebon.

Man Bunch of bandwagon fans in that article. Lena Dunham the girl is the 1st pic is a typical waspy yuppie type with no originality, it figures.

The Dodgers have their hand full with the Mets but anything can happen.

This is where the Mets cupcake schedule is really going to help them.
