Game 1

It was the Mets striking 1st in game 1 of the NLCS, in front of the home fans Matt Harvey was in need of a good outing and on this night he delivered. Citi Field was rocking and the Mets fed off early when the sizzling Daniel Murphy the hero from game 5 and the entire Dodgers series stayed hot going deep again this time off Jon Lester in the 1st for his 4th HR of the playoffs. Mets 1-0. Matt Harvey was perfect commanding all his pitches as he held the young Cubbies hitless through the 1st 4 innings, but in the 5th the Cubbies would get on the board, on a 0-2 count Harvey tried to go inside on Anthony Rizzo but hit him to lead off the inning, the very next hitter Starling Castro doubled over the head of CF Juan Lagares for the 1st Cubs hit and just like that the game was now tied at 1. With 1 out and Castro still at 2nd Javier Baez would single and Castro tied to score on LF Yeonis Cespedes but turned to be a mistake, out at the plate was Castro as the Mets kept momentum and the game stayed tied.

In the Mets bottom 5th Curtis Granderson singled in Juan Lagares and just like that the Mets had reclaim the lead, 2-1 Mets. In the bottom 6th the Mets would add another run when Travis d'Arnuad took Jon Lester deep to CF right into the HR apple making it 3-1 Mets.

The Mets would add another run and Matt Harvey was still pitching in the 8th, with 2 outs Kyle Schwarber took Harvey deep for a bomb and that was it for the Dark Knight. Terry Collins came in for Matt Harvey and he walked off the mound to the cheers of the faithful who on this night he had won them over. Juerys Familia came in for the next 4 outs and the Mets had taken game 1.

Tonight it will be the Noah Syndergaard's turn to try and put the Mets up 2-0 but it won't be easy as Jake Arrieta the soon to be Cy Young winner takes the ball tonight for the Cubbies in need to get things even.

You gotta love sports...a mere couple of weeks ago the media and the fans were running Matt Harvey out of town and now he's a hero who everyone loves. Only in sports.

Soon to be Cy Young? Not if Zach Greinke has anything to say about it.

On another note, I was looking at that R.A. Dickey trade that Alderson pulled off:
Mets sent reigning NL Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey, Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas to the Blue Jays in exchange for Travis d'Arnaud, Noah Syndergaard, John Buck and Wuilmer Becerra

Wow...what a freaking steal that was. I know you're not a hockey guy but that's a Scott Gomez for Ryan McDonagh type trade the Rangers somehow pulled off a few years ago. Gomez I don't think is in the league anymore and McDonagh is the captain of the Rangers now. Dickey at least has been serviceable for the Jays, can't say Gomez was for Montreal. Anyways, getting back to my point. We've seen what d'Arnaud and Syndergaard can do and I've read some really positive things about Beccera. Goes back to my point that I made a while back that this year its really all or nothing for the Jays. Let's see how things go tonight, I'd love to see the Cubs win but I don't see it happening, this team is still a year away from really being a force and like I said at the beginning of the playoffs if the Mets won that first round matchup nothing is going to stop them.

Thats how it it, it's what have you done for me lately. Like I said b4 all I want is for Matt Harvey to win for me now and for the Mets to trade him in the offseason.

The Cy Young is going to come down to Arrieta and Greinkie and I think they will give to Arrieta, but well see.

I remember when that trade happened I was not for it because I really liked Dickey but boy was I wrong and happy Sandy did what he did.
A steal indeed. Right now the Blue Jays are not sitting pretty, I was going to tell you b4 the series started that I think the Royals will beat the Jays, the Royals just beat you in many ways while the blue Jays kind off just want to hit HR's.

Exactly, what have you done for me lately? That is the sports world in a nutshell.

That's why its dumb to judge trades right away, a couple of years ago that trade looked bad for the Mets and now Sandy looks like a genius.

As for the Jays, they're in trouble. They need to win tonight or pack it up. Like I said before the playoffs started, I wasn't big on the Jays because "those" type of teams usually don't fare well in the playoffs.
