The Mets made it 2 in a row at home and now head to Chicago sitting pretty with Jacob deGrom ready for game 3. They jumped on the Cubbies early again and it was the same outcome as the Cubs were unable to figure out the Mets pitching. Curtis Granderson led off with a single and David Wright doubled and just like that the Cubbies were down 1-0, then came Daniel Murphy and once again he did it again, this time the victim was Jake Arrieta with a 2 run HR, so before Arrieta could record a out he found himself down 3-0.
It was an early ambush that got the Cubs, after that it was up to Noah Syndergaard to make it hold up and he did not disappoint giving the Mets 5.2 allowing 1 run on 3 hits and 9K's. Noah gave way in the 6th with some runners on to Jonathan Niese who came in to strike out Anthony Rizzo to end the threat, in the 7th it was Addison Reed and in the 8th it was Tyler Clippard with scoreless innings, 3 more outs were needed and it was Juerys Familia in the 9th for the save.
Another impressive win for the Mets and another impressive game for Daniel Murphy who continues to carve his place in Mets lore. 5 HR's in his 1st ever postseason appearance and just look at the list of names he has taken deep.
Kershaw 2
Greinkie 1
Lester 1
Arrieta 1
Impressive indeed.
It doesn't look good for the Cubbies who head back home for the next 3 games down 2-0 and no Lester and Arrieta for the next 2 games. Joe Maddon now turns to Kyle Kendricks and possibly Jason Hammel to try and get them back in the series.
The Mets have Jacob deGrom and Steven Matz lineup next a match that heavily favors the Mets.

Good win for the Mets last night, they did what they had to do which is win at home. Now all they really have to do is take 1 of the next 3 in Chicago and they're home free.
On another note, not to rain on your parade but man Arrieta did not look like the same pitcher that was dominating down the 2nd half of the season. The broadcast team mentioned it a few times, he's thrown a lot of innings this year and fatigue could be a factor.
Said it before, will say it again...start making your plans for the World Series.
Yea things are looking good, like you u said all I ask is for the Mets to win 1 out of the 3 in Chicago. Right now the Mets got it lined up perfect. I heard about Arrieta not being the same pitcher of late, he had a great run and like I told you last night Arrieta is just having one of those years he will probably never have again.
Toronto came back swinging tonight.
