What has happened to Matt Harvey?

It was another no-show for the Dark Knight who laid an egg in the rubber game vs the Nationals, a real stinker for the former ace, 1st Daniel Murphy took him deep for the 1st 2 runs in the 1st inning and in the 3rd everything came apart for the Mets and Matt Harvey.

The defense did not help matters but anything Harvey threw it was being hit hard. He could not stop things from getting out of hand and Terry Collins had to come out and get him, as Harvey walked off the mound the fans turned on him and let him have it as the boos came down loud and clear.

The Dark Knight persona has taken a huge hit, no longer are fans coming out to the ballpark dressed in batman gear, they have other's who they can dress up in and who perform like real ace's.

Matt Harvey built himself out to be this invincible pitcher and now he is struggling big time. He hit the scene in 2012 and by 2013 he was the man that wanted your full attention.

He was the man that helped put the Mets back on the map, he was the white Gooden and he was taking full advantage of his success. He wanted everything that the city had to offer, he dated all the models and the tabloids were there to let you know his every move. He was enjoying NYC to the fullest. You saw him at Rangers and Yankees games, at all the best night spots the city had to offer Matt Harvey was there. At times it made me wonder where Matt Harvey's priorities were.

Matt Harvey would also rub you the wrong way as he and his agent wound say things that would piss you off. He wanted money as if he was a 10 year vet that did not have to wait 2 years to get it.

When I look at Matt Harvey today I can see changes both physically and mentally, his belly seems to hangs over his belt and his confidence on the mound is that of a rookie. He has lost his mojo and he is having a hard time regaining it.

Right now he is lost and confused and he has no answered.

When I did my 2016 season preview post, I expected a Cy Young season from Matt Harvey but that's not going to happen now. The good thing is that Matt Harvey's next start is vs the same Nationals team that smacked him around so he has a chance to win back the fans unless for some reason... his next start is skipped, or he is put on the DL with some sort of mysterious injury like the one Yankee fans are seeing being dealt with with Luis Severino, because nowadays this seems to be the norm when a pitcher is underperforming.

We will see soon find out what direction Matt Harvey and the Mets take, for now he is schedule to make his next start. Matt Harvey has been humbled, probably for the 1st time in his life, but it is time for him picks himself up like the man he can be and win back the fans, that is all he can do. The good thing for the Mets is that they have options when it comes to aces and right now Matt Harvey is no ace.

Well, it seems like to me that all the innings Harvey pitched last season are catching up to him. I read he demanded the ball for his next start so it should be interesting to see how he comes out for his next start.
Also, what exactly are you insinuating with Severino and his DL stint? I don't think you believe that they're faking this whole thing.

Well if all the innings Harvey pitched last season is affecting his pitching or something is hurting then he should say something and go to the DL, but at the moment we haven't heard anything like that so I assume the arm is all right cause he is out there making his starts, with that being said I'm gonna continue to assume that the problem to Harvey may be personal. Yea his next start will be very interesting.

And about Severino, Did he look hurt to you? the guy was throwing 97mph pretty consistence with no problems in his last start yet he ends up in the DL after getting hit once again and going 0-7 with an ERA in the 6 plus. I believe that this is a bit of a scapegoat decision, it just looks better to just say he is hurt so well have to send him to the DL and give him a couple starts in the minors then bring him back instead of just saying he is stinking up the joint so he needs to go the minors. I'm just saying.

Cashman addressed those accusations and shut that shit down quickly. Severino went for a MRI and their is no way any team would put a player through that to fake a DL assignment. You can't say someone looks or doesn't look hurt because no one really knows whats going on. I know you don't like the Yankees but to put someone through that for no reason? I don't think so.

Why did Cashman even have to go through all that? Obviously I wasn't alone on the issue. I go with what I see and the stuff was there for Severino, he's just hasn't been able to put it together. I read up on the issue even Severino was like the DL? so that alone should tell you something. The Yankees are known for hyping up their guys so to me this is them, in a way, protecting their players. Imagine if Severino is not hurt at all and he is getting lit up, with him going to the DL they can at least say he's been getting hit because he's been hurt.
Anyone can make their own assumptions and I go by mines rather than Cashman who is there doing his job to protect his players.

Again, if you're going to put a player through all that why not just send him down? Why put your player through all of that? Why would the Yankees take the risk of putting an un-injured player on the DL. I don't know the specifics of the rules but I'm sure that type of stuff is frowned upon by MLB.

Why? because it looks better to just put him on the DL and say he's hurt instead of just continueing to just throw him out there losing leverage and potential on the player. Makes a lot of sense to me. You told me if I think the Mets will send Matt Harvey to the DL which made me think why? is he hurt? Maybe they thinking of sending too, that way Harvey's stock does not continue to go down. See what I mean?

When did I ever say anything about Harvey and the DL? What I asked is if the Mets will skip his next start not put him on the DL.

Anyways, we should be talking about both teams coming off sweeps and the upcoming series with the Nats and Blue Jays.
