Yanks stay afloat, Mets reach a low point.

Yup it's that time again and this week I like to start off with the Yankees who this week had 6 games on the road and got things started by losing the 1st 2 games to the Rockies. Nathan Evoldi and Ivan Nova took the losses and the Yankees had now fallen 3 games under the 500 mark as the Yankees packed up their bags and went to Minnesota for a 4 games series vs the lowly Twins.

The Yanks have taken care of the Twins going back too last year and they were able to salvage their week and continue their dominance of the Twins. The Yanks took the 1st 2 games and on Saturday they gave the ball to Michael Pineda who did not have the goods as the Yanks found themselves down 4-0 going to the 7th. Things were not looking good but the Yanks were able to find a way and come back when Carlos Beltran tied it in the 8th with a 2 run blast and Jacoby Ellsbury gave them the lead with a 2 run single in the 9th. With the Yankees up 7-4 in came Aroldis Chapman to close the door but it wasn't easy as Chapman gave up solo homers to Eduardo Escobar and Kurt Suzuki to make it 7-6 but the Twins fell a run short and the Yanks made it 3 in a row on the Twins.

With the win the Yankees were now set up for the 4 game sweep and were now looking for their 8th straight win vs the Twins which dates back to last season. On top of that the Twins had Ervin Santana on the mound who had lost 8 in a row to the Yanks so the Yankees had everything going for them or something had to give.

But Nathan Evoldi took the ball and could not hold his end of the deal, Evoldi had a 2-1 lead but in the 6th he got lit up and it was his 2nd lost in the week as the Yankees could not seal the deal. With the loss the Yankees finished the week at 3-3 and their record now stands at 34-35, currently 6 games out of 1st place.

Now on to the Mets who were home for 6 this week and got off to a good start when they finally won a series from the Pittsburgh Pirates taking 2 out of 3 as the Mets were now set for a winning week as they got ready to face the ML worst Atlanta Braves.

Just as the Yankees had the Twins lined up to salvage their week here were the Mets ready to pounce on the Braves.

But no one saw it coming.

Matt Harvey took the ball in the 1st game and stunk up the joint as Harvey took the lost and fell to 4-9. I thought oh well anyone can win a game in baseball and expected the Mets to win the next 2 games and on Saturday things were going as plan as the Mets had the early 3-0 lead with Steven Matz looking in line for his 8th win. But things would quickly change as the Braves would score runs in the 5th, 6th, 7th to tied it at 3, and in the 8th the Braves took the lead as they just seem to wanted it more than the Mets.

Ender Inciarte was the catalyst when he sprinted to 3rd when Curtis Granderson lazily threw the ball back to the infield after an out to advance himself and setup the go ahead, he then dashed to home when the ball got away from catcher Rene Rivera to score the eventual winning run. Like I said the Braves wanted it more than the Mets and they outplayed them.

The Mets had a chance in the 9th when Wilmer Flores led off the inning and got on on the error by Eric Aybar, James Loney than doubled but 3rd base coach Tim Tuefel decided to send the slow ass Flores home with no outs and Ender Inciarte showed face again cutting down Flores at the plate for the 1st out of the inning and you already knew the game was over. Kelly Johnson flied out and Granderson struck out looking as the Mets got swept and had reach their low point of the season.

What could had been a winning week for the Mets turned into an ugly 2-4 week. Lucky for the Mets the Nationals have lost 3 in a row and find themselves tied with the Marlins for 2nd place, 5 and a half games out.

So what do the Mets do now going forward? Obviously some changes need to be made and a shake up of the rosters looks imminent. When you go down to the lowly Braves you expect some shake ups.

The hot topic that has taken new life this week on WFAN is Jose Reyes. I don't think this would be a good idea considering that Reyes skills has diminish big time but Reyes is the cheap option and knowing that the Mets like to operate on the cheap, this might be the route they take.

Jose Reyes does bring a little speed and has always been a fan favorite that can inject some immediate excitement but after watching the OJ Simpson documentary this may not be the best timing for this sort of move, but if the Yankees can bring in Aroldis Chapman than you best believe that the Mets can bring back one of their favorite sons back so the next couple of days will be interesting.

The Mets start their week off today with a 2 game series at home vs the Royals and end it with 4 more vs the Braves in Atlanta. After that the schedule gets tough for the Mets. The NY Yankees come back home and open things up tonight with 2 vs the Rockies and 3 more with the Twins in a week where they play only 5 games.

Well that's all I got so catch you on the rebound.

Not a great week for the Yankees, I wanted them to go at least 4-2 but I guess 3-3 will have to do. They need to go at least 4-1 this week before the schedule ramps up.

As for the Mets...what can one possibly say? Getting swept at home by the Braves...the Braves! I've heard the rumors of Reyes, don't know if thats the answer but it would be cheap and wouldn't cost you any players to trade. Maybe being back in NYC might be good for him but he comes with a lot of baggage, way more than Chapman. Remember that Champman wasn't arrested and Reyes was. BTW, how great was that OJ documentary?
Anyways, lets see if the Mets will bounce back and get revenge on the Braves before the schedule gets tough.

Well not a good start for you're Yankees, they can't beat the Rockies, going to have run the table to get that 4-1 week.

Getting swept by the Braves is not going to cut it, Mets have to get that revenge for sure. The more you here about Reyes the more I think it's going to happen, I don't think he has much left but he would bring some excitement and that may turn into wins. 1 things he brings is a little speed and you know the Mets don't have any of that, again it won't cost the Mets much so why not?

I understand that Chapman was not arrested but to me it's the same shit. Why was he not arrested? I'm not sure what happened but wasn't there a gun and a female getting hit? That OJ Doc was great, it was 10 hours long but I enjoyed it, the guy who did it, Ezra Edelman did a great job putting it together base on the racial tension during that time and that still exist today.
