Trading Deadline is done.

The smoke is clear and the trading deadline has come and gone, time to see where the Mets and Yanks are at as we get ready for the final push.

This year the Mets are not where they thought they would be so they were sellers. They no longer have Lucas Duda who went to TB for a pitcher name Drew Smith, and Addison Reed went to the Red Sox for 3 minors league players. The Mets still have Asdrubal Cabrera, Jay Bruce and Curtis Granderson who they were trying to move but with no luck.

The Mets also did a little buying by acquiring Marlins closer AJ Ramos in a trade for 2 minor league players, I guess the Mets needed to fill in the void in the closer roll but I'm not that trilled about this move.

Other than that not much else was done by the Mets who must continue on with their 2017 disappointment of a season. Things will get better staring tonight as the Mets have finally called up Amed Rosario. Look for the Mets to call up Dominic Smith in about another week but that's about it for now when it comes to the Mets.

On the other side of town we have the Yankees who this season have turned thing around from sellers in 2016, to buyers in 2017. The Yanks have been a surprise so they are all in going forward as some major improvements have been added in the last couple of weeks.

The Yanks have already added David Robertson and Todd Frazier in the mix, along with pitcher Tommy Kahnle who they all got from a deal with the White Sox for Tyler Clippard and a few low level prospects.

Things got even better last night when it was announce that the Yankees had added Sonny Gray to their rotation in a deal with the A's. The Yankees also added lefty starter Jaime Garcia in a deal with the Braves on Sunday so as you can see the Yankees aren't standing pat. Look for some more minor moves going forward but it's clear that the Yanks have set themselves for a possible run.

With some 50 plus games still in the 2017 season, we have 2 teams going in different directions, the Mets look to finish out the season on a positive as they turn the page to 2018, and than you have the Yankees who are looking for big things. Not much excitement in Queens, but it will be interesting to see if the Yankees can win the division-or make it as a WC, but one thing is for sure- they need to get in.

If someone had told you in March that on August 1st one NY baseball team would be calling up their top prospect because they are out of it and the other baseball team in NY would be making big trades to solidify their run to the playoffs, I would have bet the house that it would be the Yankees calling up Torres and the Mets making trades to bulk up their team but baseball is crazy that way.
I like the moves the Yankees made, especially the ones with the White Sox. I'm a fan of Kahnle, that kid just mows people down. The Sonny Gray pickup is a good one as well, was looking forward to seeing Mateo play for the Yankees but he was kind of blocked at every position. The other good thing is that the Yankees have Gray for another 2 seasons.

On another note, Adrian Beltre got his 3000 hit this week, first Dominican player to get 3k. Who do you think will be the next?

I understand what you mean but we talking about baseball, and the Mets, remember the Mets had never made it to the playoffs 3 years in a row, but yea I would had put my money on the Mets but that's why don't bet on anything.

The Gray deal looks good especially when you have the 2 years, don't think much of Todd Frazier, but Robertson and Kahnle should help out more. You talking about Jorge Mateo? yea I think that kid will continue to be blocked, isin't Torres ahead of him and plays the same position?

Yea saw the Beltre became the 1st dominican to get 3000, from the active list Pujols is next, he's got 2917, Cano follows with 2314, I'm surprise that it took this long.
