Marlins beat the Mets, now get ready for CitiField

The 1st week of the baseball season was completed on Sunday as the New York Mets and Johan Santana took a tough lost to their Division rival the Florida Marlins in a battle of aces. Josh Johnson was the man for the Marlins who went for the complete game 2 to 1 victory, out dueling Santana who struck out 13 batters in the lost. Johnson who now moves to 2-0 looked sensational and is now 5-1 in his career when facing the Mets. The Marlins scored their 2 runs in the 2nd inning and they were un-earn runs because of Daniel Murphy who simply dropped a easy fly ball that led to the 2 runs. Other then that Santana was more effective but was the hard luck looser as the Mets could only mustered 1 run in the 9th to fall short.
The Marlins move to 5-1 to lead the Division.
The Mets now get ready for The San Diego and the home opener at their new home at Citifield. There will be festivities before the game as Tom Seaver and Mike Piazza will make the ceremonial pitch and catch to welcome in the new field, along with several other Mets players from the past like Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry. Mike Pelphey will get the ball and will be looking for his 2nd win of the season. The Padres come in with a 5 and 2 record, and are currently in 1st in their division.

The Mets end the 1st week of play with a 3 and 3 record. Ryan Church is having another hot start to his season to lead the Mets as the hottest Met with a 471 average. The Negatives in the 1st week will have to be Oliver Perez performance who gave up 8 runs in his outing vs. Reds.
