If the Mets are bad what can be said about the Yankees? Last night both New York teams went down in shutout fashion as the Yanks lost to the Braves 4-0, and the Mets to the Cardinals 3-0. In Atlanta the Yankees were playing another NL east team, the Braves being their 4th in a row, and it has not been a good recipe for the Yankees to get back on track playing that good baseball they were on just a couple of weeks ago., the only series they won on this NL trip of teams was when they beat the Mets, and we all know it was a gift. In this current stretch, the Yankees bats have been missing in action, even the red hot Texiera has cooled off majorly with no homers and just 1 RBI's in his last 7 games, it's been a while.
The Mighty Yankees could only mustered 4 hits against Braves pitching, Jorge Posada took the golden sombrero striking out 4 times, A-ROD was still fatigue, and Chien Ming Wang fell to 0-6 for the season. There was nothing positive coming out of this one, what you was a Yankee team who's offense has become stagnant and unwatchable. With the lost the Yanks fell 5 games back to the RedSoxs who beat the Nationals handily.
In Queens NY, the Mets went down to Joel Piniero and the Cardinals who who went all the way for a 2 hit shutout to even up the series at 1 a piece. Albert Pujols delivered a 2 run hit that made it 3-0 in the 6th, as Livian Hernandez pitched well but took the lost going to 5-2 for the season. The Phillies won their game against the Rays so the Mets fell 2 and half games back to the Phils who snapped their 6 game losing streak. For the Mets to lose by the shutout is understandable, just look at the lineup they sent out last night with Fernando Tatis as the cleanup hitter for the 2nd day in a row, you're watching David Wright and a bunch of other guys, but as far as the Yankees go, they have all their guys out there but continue to play uninspiring ball and it does not look good. This is a team that wins games because of their offense and right now the offense has left them. Right now it seems like the players are having a hard time getting up for Joe Girardi cause for now they seem lifeless.
Tonight the games will continue on with the Mets sending out Fernando Nieve and Joba Chamberlian taking the ball for the Yanks. Wins are needed as we get closer and closer to the Subway Series at Citi, and down the stretch to the allstar break.
