Mets & Yankees fall short on weekend sweeps

Another week of baseball has come & gone, time to talk about the happenings as this week we start off with The NY Yankees who continue to win games despite having some injuries to deal with. No Mariano this week no problem, it was the same old win win situation as the Yanks still had themselves a 5-1 week and continue to beat Boston in one sided fashion. Last night's game went to Boston, but the Yankees right now look like a team that Boston just cant fuck with, a series sweep would had crushed lots of Bosox fans but the Yanks did not get a good performance from AJ Burnett so Bostonians had 1 day to save face.

And what about this guy Francisco Cervelli, I hate the Yankees but how can you hate this guy Cervelli & his big helmet? He just seems like a regular guy who brings so much energy to a boring Yankee team who everyone knows is just going through the motions & piling up the wins. You know what to expect from these Yankees and that's why I say boring, but not Cervelli who's been clutch and is one of the few reasons to take sides with the Yankees if you have too. Guys like Francisco and Brett Gardner are very few on this Yankee team who we all know is loaded with big ego's & big contracts.

To be honest I didn't watch much of the Yankees this past week except for during commercials, but We all know that this Yankee team will be their waiting for whom ever it is in the end when the smoke clears baring some major injuries to a Mariano or a Jeter, other then that what else can you expect from the Yankees but another post season appearance.

And now for my Mets, they continue to play inspired ball and be a team that is fun to watch, but this week we took a step back with a 3-3 week. One thing we know is that this team cares & will be a scraping for wins this season. This is a good group of guys that really want to show the fanbase that they want to win but one thing about this Met lineup is that they can swing & miss alot so this may be a big problem as the season goes along. Francouer is a free swinger who does not take many walks so when he is cold there is a lot of wiffings. Still I like this guy Francouer because he goes all out & his defense in RF to me is the best in the majors. Jason Bay is another one and so is David Wright who we have to worry about when it comes to striking out, these 3 are the guys who are in the middle of the lineup and these 3 are in competition to lead the league in strike outs, well at least Wright is, right now these 3 are in a major funk but we are still winning games so I guess that's a good thing. Once these guys start to get hot, hopefully very soon, & hopefully Bay & Wright, things should be alot better on offense. From what I have seen we have been catching alot of breaks thanks to the friendly confines of Citifield, which this week played out as if it was Candlestick Park. It was windy & from what we have seen in these cold days in May, the home ballpark has some crazy wind tunnels that causes for some tough fly balls to deal with.

In yesterdays Mother's day game, the Mets were down 4-0 to Tim Lincecrum but all of a sudden we had a lead & a chance for the sweep, thanks to some wind aided hits, 2 by Jason Bay, if not we would be talking about how Jason Bay did not come through once again. It was crazy at Citifield & the Giants did not know what to do, is this what you call home field advantage? In the end it all evened out when Aaron Rowand took Jenrry Mejia deep for a homerun as this too was wind aided, when it left Rowand's bat I said this one is in the big park for out #2 but it just kept going & going till Francouer ran out of room. And what can you say about our catcher Rod Barajas, he may not hit for much of an average but he can sure hit when it counts, so far I have been to 2 games this year & in both games Barajas has gone over the fence twice in both games.

I also continue to be very excited about Ike Davis who on Friday also went deep twice and made another tremendous catch over the railing to keep the game tie at 4 which led to Barajas walk off HR. I had a blast as me and my 2 nephews saw some exciting baseball & it was funny cause their was a lot of Giants fans at the game, 2 who were sitting right behind us and being very vocal when ever a Giant did some good, they were really loud when Kevin Bowker took K-ROD deep to tied the game at 4, 1 of my nephews was like what's up with these guys? he did not understanding how people could root for the other team, or that they could be Giants fans in our home turf, you should had seen the scene when Barajas went deep and these 2 stormed out before Barajas could touch home plate, priceless. All in all it was another positive week for my Mets IMO cause I had a great time at the ballgame & we won.

The negative continues to be the enigma, what are we to do with Ollie Perez? Once again the guy stunk up the joint and this time on Mother's day, what a disgrace, this guy give Met fans & Mexicans people a bad name, once again his body language said I don't want to be out here and the Mets need to make something up again & get Perez out of here cause I don't want to see him again. I am tired of his act and excuses as yesterday after the game Perez said it was the wind and the cold weather that gave him trouble, it was too cold, as if he was the only one that had to pitch under these conditions, you suck Ollie P! You want more proof? since last season when he signed the big deal with the Mets, which at the time I was ok with the Mets taking Ollie over Derek Lowe, Perez has had some 80 something strike outs & 80 something walks, not much else to say, Perez simply needs to go but where? do you just let him go and eat out his contract? I would applaud the Mets if they did.
