So far so good for the NY Mets, a sweep of the Rockies so we're still in 1st. Still playing that good ball and holding a 5 game lead to the Nationals

Now it's off to Philadelphia to play 4 with the last place Phillies, on top of that the captain makes his return tonight. Since April 14th David Wright has been missing in action, now he's back and that can only make the team better, it makes the bench stronger. Yes if you're a Mets fan things are looking good these days, you don't worry about not scoring enough runs anymore and the pitching you now is stellar.

Plus the Mets have a bunch of easy games on the schedule but most of the games are on the road where they have not done well. But this is not the same team, this is a different Mets team and I feel like I should not worry cause it's like apples and oranges now.

Still I remember back in 2007 when the Mets were up 7 games with about 14 games to go and they blew it, these things a Met fan does not forget. I still worry about the bullpen and I still  want that lefty. But these days I must say I don't worry as much cause I have confidence that Curtis Granderson is going to get the job done, that Yeonis Cepedes will have a big September, that the pitching is the real deal. So far so good.

Now on to the Yankees...

It was not a promising weekend for the pinstripes as they dropped 3 out of 4 to the last place Indians at the stadium. Now the Yankees find themselves back in 2nd place and get ready to opened up a series tonight vs. the 1st place Houston Astros. The bats continue to be silent and this can't continue when the Yankees play at the stadium. This is where they have to beat teams like the Indians, this is where they have a advantage but lately they have been burned. On Sunday it was Francisco Lindor who took Dellin Betances deep for the game winner.

But things should get better, Mark Texiera who has missed 6 straight games and Michael Pineda who has not pitched in over a month are due back this week. The Yankees should be ok once the lineup consist of Tex and AROD doing what they have done this year.

Still it's going to be a race and it will come down to the Toronto Blue Jays and the NY Yankees. 7 more games remaining between the 2 teams so who will finish the strongest?

Can the Jays continue on the pace and win the division? to the playoffs for the 1st time since 1993? Or will the Yankees lift their game and overtake the division when it is all said and done?
