It's a Labor day week special as the NY Mets get things going this afternoon in Washington in one of the biggest series of the week. Coming off a tough series lost in Miami the Mets look to bounce back vs the Nationals today who will be looking for some pay back. The Nationals are coming into this series on a high after sweeping the lowly Atlanta Braves who lost their 12 straight, it was the perfect remedy for the Nationals to get back on track and now the Nats have won 5 in a row.
As for the NY Yankees it was a big come from behind win on Sunday, there they were staring at the scoreboard and the Toronto Blue Jays were beating up on the Baltimore Orioles, it was the bottom of the 6th and things were not looking good, the Yankees were down 3-0 to the TB Rays with Chris Archer on the mound who has never lost to the Yankees and he was looking in total control.
As for the Mets they took a hit this weekend after losing their series to the Miami Marlins letting another one get away in the 8th when pinch hitter Justin Bour went deep into the upper deck to tie the game off of 8th inning man Tyler Clippard. The Mets lost it in the 9th when Martin Prado won the battle vs Clippard who was back out there in the 9th, it was a long at bat, base were loaded and only 1 out, it was foul after foul as Prado kept hanging in the at bat and he finally won the battle with a sacrifice fly as the Marlins taken the series vs the Mets. It was another walked off win and once again it was Martin Prado who had done it again to the Mets, his 2nd walk off in the series
Right now it seems like the Nationals are on their way up while the Mets are on a bit of a slide. When the week began the Mets held a 6 and half game lead and now it's down to 4. Things have tighten up a bit and now we have a series that is billed as a Labor day special.
The Nationals are ready, they got their 3 best pitchers lined up for the Mets and they remember what happened the last time they met. The Mets had Harvey, deGrom and Syndergaard and they got swept. Now the Nationals have their big 3 as they look too turn the tables on the Mets who look to pull away.

Max Scherzer takes on Jonathan Niese in the series opener today but the big game will be on tomorrow night when Jordan Zimmerman takes on Matt Harvey. All eyes will be on Harvey after everything he has brought on to himself and the Mets, he needs to win to keep the Met faithful on his side and he better come out lights out with a bunch of zero's.
Jacob deGrom and Stephen Strasburg will get the finally and this is the series to watch.

It looked like the Yankees were going to be down 2 and half games at the end of the day but then all of a sudden Chris Archer lost it, with 2 on and 2 outs Brian McCann went upper deck on him and now the game was now tied. AROD followed and it was back to back, belly to belly as Archer was visibly shook. Now the Yankees led 4-3 and that would be it for the Rays as the Yankees went on to win 6-4 keeping pace with the Jays.
Today they get ready to host the Orioles while the Blue Jays take on the Red Sox in Boston. Looking at the numbers both the Yanks and Jays are 7-3 in their last 10 games, the Yankees have won their last 3 series by beating the Braves, Red Sox, and now the Rays, and the Jays have won their last 6 series, the last 3 to the Tigers, Indians and now the Orioles.
After this series both teams will hook up beginning on Thursday for a 4 game set that opens up with a spicy matchup between David Price and Luis Severino. The last time these 2 met the Yanks won that series 2-1 and it was the last time the Toronto Blue Jays had lost a series.
This is September baseball and if your team is still playing relevant ball it means you are in it to win it. Time to show and prove and time to buckle up, 27 games remain and both NY teams are alive as they look to punch their tickets into the postseason.

Like I've been telling you, the Nats are terrible. As far as the east is concerned, its over. You can go to Mets.com and order your NL East Championship t-shirt now. Even when the Nats cut the lead down to 4, I was reading stuff online that some Mets fans were beginning to worry a bit, still trying to figure out why. Time to really start to think about the likes of the Cardinals, Pirates, Cubs and Dodgers.
Haha, yea with this lost here it's pretty much over. I hear the Mets will play your Dodgers 1st., I saw that they pulled away from the Giants.
Yeah, looks like it'll be Mets-Dodgers. Once we get to the playoffs we'll have to break it down but right now I wouldn't love the Dodgers chances.
