The calendar has turned another page, September is here and we get closer to the stretch run, and for the NY Yankees it was a good start to the new month as they caught a few breaks and kept pace with the 1st place Toronto Blue Jays who maintain a game and a half lead. Fortunes were not as good for the NY Mets who lost to the Phillie's for the 1st time in 10 tries. Jonathan Niese didn't have it, in 5 innings 7 hits and 6 runs and after 5 it was Phillies 6-0. But then the Mets had came back when in the bottom 5th they scored 4 runs, Kelly Johnson got the Mets on the board with a pinch hit single 6-1, Curtis Granderson grounded out for another run and now it was 6-2, then with 1 on and 2 outs Yeonis Cespedes homered to bring in the Mets closer 6-4 and just like that the Mets where back in it.
But that would be the closest the Mets would get because in the 6th Terry Collins made the mistake to replace Jonathan Niese with Bobby Parnell who was coming back from the DL, a questionable move because Parnell had struggled mightily before going to the DL and I just felt he was not the right guy to call for a comeback situation. Parnell soon proved to be the wrong move as he walked the 1st 2 batters and now the one guy who has not played well with the NEW NY Mets was now hearing it loud and clear BOO!
Freddy Galvis followed with a bunt, sacrificing himself with a come backer back to Parnell who picked up the ball and threw wide to 1st for an error and another run, after that Parnell was sent to the showers and more BOOS as the crowd now let him have it. That would opened up a 8 run inning for the Phillies and that was the game. Bobby Parnell is fighting for a spot on the playoff roster but walking guys and making bonehead plays will make it easy on the Mets not to ad him.
In 19 innings this season Parnell has allowed 17 runs 14 earn and only 10K's, the numbers don't lie and Bobby Parnell is not any good. But this lost I'm going to put on Terry Collins who should had gone with his long man Sean Gilmartin who has been perfect all season in that roll.

Lucky for the Mets the Washington Nationals blew a 4-0 to the Cardinals, with the Nationals still up 5-3 in the 8th, in came former closer Drew Storen who is now the setup man after the Nationals acquired Jonathan Papelbon, Storen gave up a single and than hit Brandon Moss to put the 1st 2 on, then he turned into Bobby Parnell when the next batter Greg Garcia bounced a come backer to Storen who throw wide for the error scoring a run, by the end of the inning the game was tied until the bottom 9th, that's where Kelly Jansen now pitching for the Nationals, got the 1st 2 outs, but then pinch hitters Cody Stanley doubled and Thomas Pham walked setting it up for Brandon Moss and a walk off 3 run HR as the drama continues in Washington.
While in Boston, Rick Porcello went 8 innings struck out 13 but lost the game 3-1, in the 5th inning with the Red Sox up 1-0, an error by 1st baseman Travis Shaw led to 2 un-earned runs and that was pretty much it the game. A couple of questionable calls did not help Boston in this game either, with 2 on and 1 out David Ortiz was at the plate, that's when Mookie Betts stole 3rd but was then called out after the Yanks had the play reviewed and overturned, Betts appeared to be pushed off the base by 3B Chase Headley but the Yanks got the call, the Yanks got another call in the 9th to close out the game when home plate umpire Ron Kulpa called Blake Swihart out on a check swing without asking for help with the 1st base umpire, your out! said Kulpa and the Yanks win. Michael Pineda had a solid outing and won the game going 6 innings, 4 hit, 7K's.
The Yanks would not get anymore good news as the Blue Jays won their game vs the Indians 5-3 with a walk off HR by Ryan Goins in the 10th...

I've got nothing for this post.
Oh wait I do, the play at 3rd with Betts. He was called out originally and the Sox challenged and the play was upheld. Headley didn't push him off, he kept the tag on through the slide which is what you're taught to do. Anyways, the replay didn't show anything conclusive that would lead the umpires to overrule the call on the field.
It's NY vs. Florida this weekend in baseball. Both teams need to keep it rolling.
My bad, Betts was called out originally, yea Headley held the tag on but he did give Betts a little shove I mean everybody does that, but that last call to end the game on a strikeout was kind of blatant.
Tough loss for the Mets last night and now all this talk about Harvey, Boras and the Mets. Not really sure what that's all about.
Yea again it was the 7th inning guys who blew it, right now the Mets need to find someone, my guy would be Robles who has cojones and has good stuff, this new guy Addison Reed is suppose to be good I mean he was a closer for a few years but last night he walked in the go ahead run and to me when you do something like that that means you don't trust your stuff and have no balls.
Boras popping off I don't understand, you already know how I feel about that guy, to me he is no good for baseball. Hopefully Harvey, who is to talk to the media today will say the right things and end this BS.
