They were down twice early to the Royals who would score 3 runs in the 1st 2 inning, but by the home 3rd the Mets had taken control. Noah Syndergaard's did his thing to win the game but it was his very 1st pitch that set the tone for the rest of the night, Thor would put the Royals Alcides Escobar back on his fanny dusting him off and shaky his head as the rest of his teammates looked on from the dugout barking on. It was on!
Escobar would go on to strikeout but the very next batter Ben Zorbist would lay into Noah for a double and would come around for the early 1-0 lead, the Royals were on top but the Mets would come right back in the bottom half, Curtis Granderson led off with a hit and then it was the Captain who would break out in a big way, David Wright unloaded for the 2 run bomb as the Mets came back with some fight. The Mets lead would not last long cause the Royals were at it again in the 2nd, the team that keeps coming back came back for 2 more runs off Noah, it was 3 straight singles by Salvador Perez, Alex Gordan and Alex Rios and just like that the game was tied with no body out, The Mets would catch a break during the Rios's game tying single when a overturned call at 3rd gave the Mets the 1st out with the pitcher due up next but a pass ball by Travis d'Arnaud gave the Royals the lead 3-2 when the inning was over.
Once again the Royals were on top but the Mets fought back again in the bottom 3rd, Noah Syndergaard led off inning with a single and was followed by a 2 run shot by Curtis Granderson who would put the Mets back up for good. Yordano Ventura did not have it and the Mets had made it clear that on this night it was going to be a Mets win.
The Royals were held scoreless for the next 7 innings while the Mets were able to continue to ad on, an RBI by Michael Conforto in the 4th made it 5-3 and in the 6th the Mets opened it up for 4 more runs.
It was a big win and now the Mets have something to build on. Big ups! to Noah Syndergaard who came right at the Royals and was not going to let them change his ways, now it's up to Steven Matz to try and continue the blueprint tonight.
If the NY Mets are to come back and win their 3rd WS title their young pitchers are going to have to understand that they are the better rotation and that they just have to go out there and execute their pitches instead on letting the Kansas City Royals lineup dictating the series.
Ex Met Chris Young will go for the Royals as tensions should be high after the dust up by Thor.

Mets did what they had to do last night. I saw that the Royals players were upset by that first pitch but I have zero problem with what Noah did, he tried to set the tone from the get go. It reminded me of that playoff game that Clemens pitched for the Yankees in I want to say 2001 vs Seattle, Clemens was more dominant but Noah like Clemens set the tone nice and early. I don't think that the Royals would be stupid enough to try something, remember my previous comment that the Mets open the season in KC next year so I'm sure that this whole thing will be revisited then. Like I told you last night, I can't see Harvey and deGromm going down twice in this series. One of them? Maybe. Both? I can't see it. I still believe that the Mets win this series, as good as the KC hitters are and as relentless as they can be, you said it perfectly, "their young pitchers are going to have to understand that they are the better rotation" And at the end of the day that is what wins championships. For the Mets sake you have to hope that what happened last night gives the team some of that swagger back. Should be a good one in Queens tonight.
