30 Games in.

So here we are today some 30 games into the season, time for a small sample size.

As of today the Mets are 19-11, in 1st place a half game in front of the Washington Nationals who got swept by the Cubs this weekend, while the Yankees find themselves in last place at 11-18.

So far it looks like 2 teams going in different directions. Good things were expected from the Mets but after a slow start to the season some fans began to worry after just 10 games. But all that was premature and the Mets quickly found their game.

The team chemistry has continued from last season and the new players have come in and fit right in. The Mets are winning and they are doing it by hitting the long ball. At the moment they are on pace to break the team record for HR in a season, hopefully the Mets can do more then just hit HR's but as long as they continue to hit them I guess I'll take it for now.

The Mets are winning and the starting pitching has yet too really warmed up because so far Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom have underperformed. The Dark Knight finally had a decent start yesterday but he has been no where near his super hero status and so has Jacob deGrom who has yet to hit his stride. What has concern me the most about these 2 is their velocity which has been down, hopefully as the weather gets warmer they will heat up and the extra MPH will come back.

The rest of starting rotation have done their thing led by Noah Syndergaard who looks poise to take over as the team ace in 2016, while Matz's and Colon have been great early on.

30 games in it's the Mets bats instead of their pitching that has carry this team. Michael Conforto has taken off ever since being put in the 3rd slot and Yeonis Cespedes continues to crush the ball as a Met. Everything seems to be going well for the NY Mets but on the other side of town the NY Yankees have been scuffling for runs and wins.

The biggest problem so far has been the Yankees lineup, no one stands out and no one really scares you. On top of that now you have AROD on the DL. But the worst of them all is Chase Headley, the tension is visible and you kind of feel sorry for the guy, he needs to go but the Yankees are paying him way too much so what happens is that they will continue to throw him out there even through he clearly needs to go and that is part of being a Yankee fan.

Yea things are not looking to good after 30 games but again it's still way too early and things can certainly change, but if this type of lifeless play continues Yankees fans may have to get ready for one of those seasons they haven't seen in 2 decades.

Things won't get any easier for the Yankees as they start a 4 game series today vs the World Champs today and follow that with a series vs the 1st place Chicago White Sox. They do get Aroldis Chapman today so the bullpen gets better but that won't help the bats. Yes the next few games will be a real test, someone needs to get hot, some early runs sure will help. For now the Yankees have to find a way to string a few wins together but the competition is going to get better in the next few games so it won't be easy.

As for the Mets, they continue their west coast swing with 4 with the LA Dodgers, then it's 3 in Colorado and then it's back home to face the Nationals. The next 7 games are looking crucial for the Yankees while the Mets so far so good.

Well the Mets right now are playing as advertised, it was funny to see/hear all these Mets fans that were freaking out after the first week of the season. I'm looking forward to seeing the Mets play the Cubs and Nationals and see how that goes.
As for the Yankees, can't say that I'm shocked at what we've seen thus far but they have shown some signs of life, just need to do it on a consistent basis. Taking 2 of 3 from Sox and winning the first game of the KC series is a good start but they still have a lot of work to do.
